Terms of use
Use the software. Keep the judgment.
SamePocket helps organize shared household and business records. You remain responsible for your money, invoices, filings, clients, connected accounts, and professional decisions.
Agreement
These Terms are an agreement between you and SamePocket and apply when you access the SamePocket app, invite-only beta, website, or related services. By using the service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you receive the app through Apple, Apple’s applicable store terms and Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also apply. Apple’s terms control where they require a different result.
Eligibility and beta access
You must be at least 18, legally able to enter this agreement, located in the United States, and authorized to use every account or record you connect. Beta access is personal, limited, revocable, and may not be resold. You may invite only a person who is permitted to see and help manage the relevant household and business records.
The beta is unfinished software. Features, formats, integrations, availability, and pricing may change. The service may contain defects, be interrupted, or lose data. Keep independent copies of important records, verify exports and account balances, and do not use SamePocket as the only record of a payment, obligation, or tax position.
Accounts and shared households
- Provide accurate account information, keep sign-in methods secure, and tell us promptly about suspected unauthorized access.
- A household owner controls invitations and member roles. An invited member may see sensitive business and personal information within that shared household.
- Review the person, email address, and role before inviting or accepting. Activity performed through your account is treated as authorized unless you promptly report misuse.
- Removing a member stops future access but does not necessarily erase accurate shared bookkeeping history created while that person had access.
Connected financial accounts
Plaid connection is optional. When you connect an account, you instruct Plaid and the financial institution to provide authorized account and transaction information to SamePocket. You must be an owner or authorized user of the account. SamePocket does not receive the bank password entered in Plaid Link and does not initiate transfers, hold funds, extend credit, or make investment decisions.
Institution coverage, history, balances, transaction descriptions, and update timing may be incomplete, delayed, duplicated, or wrong. Review imported information against the source account. Disconnecting stops future retrieval but does not automatically remove bookkeeping records you already chose to keep.
Invoices and Nickel
SamePocket can prepare and approve local invoice drafts. The current beta’s Nickel Plus connection is read-only: it searches authorized invoice and bill records and displays summaries, but it does not create, change, send, pay, cancel, or refund anything in Nickel. To create or send an invoice or payment link, you must open Nickel and complete that action there.
You are responsible for client authority, invoice details, taxes, amounts, delivery, and the goods or services described. SamePocket is not a party to the underlying transaction and does not guarantee delivery or payment. Nickel, banks, and payers may impose separate terms, verification, availability rules, or fees.
Not financial, tax, legal, or accounting advice
SamePocket provides organizational tools, suggestions, calculations, and exports based on available information and your choices. It is not a bank, accountant, tax preparer, law firm, fiduciary, money transmitter, broker, lender, or investment adviser. A category, match, summary, estimate, or export may be incomplete or wrong and does not determine accounting or tax treatment. Review important decisions and filings with a qualified professional.
Your responsibilities
- Review transactions, categories, splits, matches, invoices, payment status, summaries, and exports before relying on them.
- Maintain source documents and independent copies required for your business or household.
- Obtain permission to process client, household, payer, employee, or other third-party information.
- Comply with laws and contractual duties that apply to your taxes, invoicing, privacy, business, and recordkeeping.
- Do not email SamePocket bank passwords, full account numbers, tax documents, provider secrets, or other sensitive records.
Third-party services
SamePocket depends on services such as Apple, Plaid, financial institutions, Nickel, Cloudflare, authentication, email, and hosting providers. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to their services. We do not control their availability, security, decisions, fees, or data accuracy. You authorize SamePocket to exchange the information reasonably needed to perform an action you request, subject to the read-only Nickel limits described above.
Your content and our software
You retain ownership of records and content you provide. You grant SamePocket a limited, non-exclusive permission to host, process, copy, display, export, and transmit that content only as needed to operate, protect, support, and improve the service or perform your instructions. You represent that you have the rights needed to provide it.
SamePocket and its licensors retain all rights in the app, website, brand, design, software, and documentation. These Terms give you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use the beta for its intended purpose. Suggestions or feedback may be used without restriction or payment, but we will not identify you publicly without permission.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse the service; bypass access controls; probe or disrupt systems without permission; upload malware; scrape or reverse engineer except where law expressly permits; impersonate another person; infringe rights; connect an account without authorization; or use SamePocket to facilitate fraud, deception, or illegal activity.
Privacy, exports, and deletion
The Privacy Policy explains our data practices. The Privacy Choices page explains how to disconnect a provider, manage a household, export records, or initiate account deletion. A shared household owner should export necessary records before deleting the household. Some information may remain for other authorized household members or be retained where law, security, or dispute resolution requires it, as explained during the request.
Availability, changes, and termination
We may change, suspend, or end a beta feature or integration. When reasonably possible, we will provide notice and an opportunity to export data before a planned shutdown. We may suspend or revoke access for misuse, security risk, legal requirements, provider restrictions, or discontinued testing. You may stop using SamePocket and request deletion at any time. Provisions that logically survive—including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations—continue after termination.
Fees
The invite-only beta is currently offered without charge. If SamePocket later offers a paid app, subscription, or feature, the price, renewal terms, included features, cancellation method, and any applicable Apple purchase terms will be shown before purchase. We will not charge you merely for joining the early-access list.
Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SamePocket and the beta are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that data from third parties will be timely, complete, or correct.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SamePocket’s operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, tax benefits, business, or goodwill arising from the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, aggregate liability relating to the beta will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for SamePocket during the preceding twelve months or US $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow every exclusion or limitation, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Changes and contact
We may update these Terms as the product changes. We will post the effective date and provide additional notice before a material change when appropriate. If a material change requires new agreement, we will ask for it. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
