Privacy choices
Your connections. Your records. Your call.
Use these controls to limit what SamePocket can reach, who can see a shared household, and how long your information remains in the service.
Start in the app: use Overview → Banking for bank and archived-transaction controls, or Settings for household invitations, Nickel, sign-out, and account deletion. If a beta defect prevents a control from completing, email us from the address on the account so we can verify and process the request.
Manage shared access
An owner or admin can create a seven-day, email-locked invitation in Settings. To remove another member during the beta, contact support from the owner account. Deleting your own account ends your membership without silently erasing accurate records another authorized member relies on.
Disconnect a bank
Open Overview → Banking, select a connected institution, and choose Disconnect. New retrieval stops and SamePocket asks Plaid to remove its connection. Imported bookkeeping records remain in the pocket.
Archive a transaction
Swipe or long-press a transaction and choose Archive. It leaves daily queues but stays in the accounting record. Open Archived transactions to restore it at any time.
Nickel
In Settings, an owner or admin can Connect, Sync, or Disconnect the optional read-only Nickel Plus integration. Disconnect revokes SamePocket’s grant and removes its cached status snapshot without changing anything in Nickel.
Export your records
Create a copy of available bookkeeping records before deleting an account or household. Review exported totals and files before relying on them.
Delete an account
Choose Delete account, review the effect on shared records and subscriptions, reauthenticate, and confirm. Deactivation alone is not account deletion.
Disconnecting a Plaid connection
- Open SamePocket Overview → Banking.
- Choose the connected institution.
- Select Disconnect and confirm.
This stops SamePocket from retrieving new information through that connection. Transactions and classifications already stored in your books remain so review and accounting history do not disappear unexpectedly. Archive individual transactions you want hidden from daily queues; contact us from the account email for a verified deletion request.
You can also view and manage eligible Plaid connections through Plaid Portal. A separate Plaid Account is governed by Plaid and is not automatically deleted when a SamePocket account is deleted.
Nickel
Open Settings → Nickel to Connect, Sync, or Disconnect. The connection is read-only: SamePocket can summarize invoices and bills but cannot create, change, send, pay, refund, or delete. Disconnect requests token revocation and removes the cached snapshot.
Managing a shared household
During the invite-only beta, an owner or admin can create an email-locked invitation in Settings. Contact support from the owner account to remove another member or revoke an unused invitation. A person can use Delete account to remove their own login and membership; ownership transfers to another admin when the service can do so safely.
Removing one person ends that person’s access. Shared transactions, invoices, and decisions that other authorized members still rely on may remain in the household, with personal attribution removed or limited when appropriate. Deleting the entire household is a separate owner action and affects every member.
Device permissions
Notifications, reminders, and biometric access can be changed in Apple’s Settings app. Turning off a device permission stops that device-level feature but does not delete your SamePocket account or bookkeeping records. Connecting a bank is optional and is not required to use unrelated manual bookkeeping features.
Access, correct, or export information
Profile and bookkeeping information can be corrected in the app. Use Export to create a copy of supported records. For an account-level access, correction, or portability request that the app cannot complete, email [email protected] from your account address and state what you need.
Delete your account or household
- Export any records you or another household member needs.
- Open Settings → Data & access → Delete my SamePocket account.
- Review whether the pocket can transfer to another admin or will be removed with your sole membership.
- Confirm the deletion.
Deletion removes the account and associated personal data from the active service or de-identifies it, except information that must be retained for security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or the legitimate records of another authorized household member. Encrypted backups normally age out on a 30-day rotation. The confirmation flow explains any specific exception.
Deleting SamePocket does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription or delete a separate Plaid or Nickel account. If paid subscriptions are introduced, the deletion screen will link to Apple’s subscription management before confirmation while still allowing immediate account deletion.
Website and support requests
To remove a waitlist email or support correspondence, email [email protected]. Include only the email address involved and the type of record. Do not send financial documents or credentials.
State privacy rights
Depending on where you live and which law applies, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, and to appeal a denied request. SamePocket does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will honor applicable opt-out preference signals, but because we do not conduct those activities, such a signal does not change the site’s behavior.
We may verify identity and authority before completing a request. If a request affects another household member, we may ask the household owner or other affected person to confirm the proper scope. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
